Good, ok product only for one night July 28, 2010 SCchickie This is a good product and leaves a nice tan, however it will wash off the next morning when you shower. If you want a nice tan for the night then use this because you will get a good glow. Do not wear white and get in the sun where you may start sweating, it will come off a weird pink color (washes off completely). You will use 75% of the can in one use if you are tanning your entire body. I only use it when I absolutely have had no time to go get a custom spray tan, or when I travel.
only self tanner ill use July 20, 2010 nikki so i'm addicted to tanning. i go to tanning beds all the time, if possible i'll tan and then immediately do mystic afterwards. ive tried a number of self tanners over the years and none of them really got the job done so i continued my guilty pleasure of tanning beds and paid the high prices. then i got pregnant and to my horror couldn't really tan anymore bc you're body can't get overheated when you're pregnant. so i was constantly mystic tanning, which got expensive. so i started researching self tanning spray that i could do at home. this had a lot of good reviews so i tried it. and i'm not going to lie, the first time i tried it i was a little splotchy and didn't get the technique down quite right. but it was such a beautiful natural color that i kept practicing til i got the hang of it. and now i use it almost everyday. i always get compliments on my tan from people who think its real and tell me how great my tan looks. the color is way more natural than the expensive mystic tan that can look orangey sometimes. so everyday when i get out of the shower i maintain it by spraying a little on my chest, neck, and face and sometimes arms. its great bc you can use it on top of itself and it wont look weird and blotchy. even my mom who's almost 60 liked it so much that she bought a can of her own. and this 3 pack is a GREAT deal, it goes for about $20 a can retail at Sally Beauty Supply. and one can lasts me about a month.
This is NOT a "self-tanner". it is a CHEAP ** TINTED ** MILD self-tanner July 16, 2010 MissBargain (BOSTON, MA) there is a MAJOR misrepresentation here: nowhere does the product say that this is a TINTED self-tanner. but that's exactly what it is! it is meant to give you an instant color that washes off after a few hours if you take a shower. like the Clarins tinted tanner for legs, for example.
soooo disappointed. i have tried a lot of self tanners, and this one is NOWHERE NEAR even the regular CVS ones like Neutrogena or L'oreal Sublime bronze. i didn't notice any mess as stated by other reviewers, but the worst part of it is that it is so dry that it simply does NOT spread easily over the skin. it was very annoying, i didn't like using it at all. you have to rub and rub and rub! the best way to spread a self tanner is to mix it with some lotion so it covers the skin evenly, especially on the critical areas like the ankles and the wrists. well it is really hard to make this happen with this product, as you always end up with darker spots here and there. and forget about covering your back yourself. i use a Home Depot painting brush with a long handle to cover my back with self tanner, but that one was a hopeless case to use with the brush.
On the other hand, the fact that it is very dry does NOT mean it is quickly absorbed by the skin. Not at all. you need to apply it and wear some old clothes otherwise you will get stains everywhere, even after 4 hours.
the only good thing about it is that it turns dark, not orangy. however the color does not last longer than other products. but hell, Lancome Flash Bronzer Airbrush (THE BEST!) does that and gives you a delicious golden color without all the rubbing, the staining, and the delayed drying. plus i found that one here at a great price. So i am back to it.
in all honesty, i feel ripped off because i think that most positive reviews have been written by people working at that company. i have a hard time believing that a real self tanning junkie can be sooo crazy about such a cheap product. total waste of $. but now you are warned.
Fair-Skin-Friendly!!! July 2, 2010 John Shearer (Denver, CO, US) (FYI- this is not John... lol... this is John's wife, Becky. We just share an account. I just thought I'd state that for the record.)
I have EXTREMELY fair skin (more like reflective... I'm the blonde hair, blue eyes, can't tan naturally because I'm a lobster after 5 minutes with anything less than SPF 70 kind of fair. lol) and this is the ONLY product that I've found that looks natural on my skin.
I actually have a membership to a tanning salon to get UV Free tans sprayed on regularly so that I look alive, instead of like a walking corpse... but this tan-in-a-can looks SO SO SO much more natural. I haven't had time to get to the salon (it's near my office, but I've been working from home a lot) so I stopped on my way to work and got a can of self spray-on-tanner at a beauty supply store hoping to find something that would hold me over until I can get to the salon again... lol... but instead I found a full replacement for the salon! yay! :)
On fair skin, just about all self-tanners or UV Free tanners end up looking orange. Against any other tone those same products look wonderful... against my milk white skin, not so much. This actually goes on with brown and pink tones as your color guide, so it looks like you just recently got a bit of sun... and it develops to a nice brown-tan (not ORANGE-tan) color underneath. Then after you shower the pink hue goes away and you look like your pinkness has developed into a natural tan. :)
If you don't want people to know your tan is a fake, this is your product!! It's amazing! This is the best self tanner in the world. I'm ordering 6 cans right this minute. What can I say? I'm sold!
(TIP!: Hold the can a little further away than it recommends. I found that when I held it as close as they asked it was spraying on a little too heavy in a few spots... I kinda freaked out at first thinking my tan would develop all streaky because the first initial spray went on REALLY thick, so I thought I'd have a spot! lol... I blended it in a little and now you can't even tell. And DON'T TOUCH until the spray has dried completely!!! Even though I did, and my color guide got a little messed up-- nobody else could tell-- the tan developed completely even all over. I don't think I've ever had a real SELF-tan this even :) user error usually gets in my way. lol)
For whomever thought this stuff up: I love you! :)
Just okay June 29, 2010 A. M. Smith (RICHMOND, VA United States) This stuff looks only a bit more natural than self-tanning products which darken over time. An up-side is that you can see the results immediately. However, said results don't look like sun- or bed-tanned skin at all, and there's still an orangey cast to it -- especially if too much is used. In addition, it tends to collect in pores where it ends up being darker and can give a "freckled" appearance. The spray is very fine and I've ultimately had to wear a filter mask when spraying it and I would not even CONSIDER spraying it at my face. Because of the ultra-fine mist, the overspray goes EVERYWHERE -- even if you do it in the shower with door or curtain closed, and if you don't wash and rinse the tub or shower immediately you've got a huge job ahead of you. And, even with the curtain/door closed, the spray will still find its way onto other surfaces in the bathroom which might not be visible right away but the next time you wipe things down in there the cloth or sponge will come away orange. Thus, application is best done outdoors if you can manage that. Because it sits largely on the surface of the skin, a lot of care needs to be exercised when bathing and even so, it starts to go spotty and reapplication doesn't always solve this problem. For the same reason, it will rub off on the insides of your clothing, shoes, socks and so forth.
